Day 1

Your day begins with a morning pick-up from your Arusha hotel, followed by a scenic 120 km (approximately 2-hour) drive to the renowned Tarangire National Park. Famous for its large elephant herds, Tarangire offers a true taste of the wild. As you explore the park’s varied landscapes ranging from seasonal swamps and open savannahs to the lush banks of the Tarangire River you’ll encounter zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, giraffes, and many other species. Keep your eyes peeled for the park’s stealthy predators, including lions and leopards.

After an exciting morning game drive, you’ll pause at a picturesque picnic spot to enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by nature. The adventure continues into the afternoon, offering more opportunities to spot wildlife and admire the golden hues of the African sunset. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll depart from camp with a picnic lunch in hand and journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, nestled in the Crater Highlands of northern Tanzania. After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your accommodation and driven to the breathtaking Lake Manyara National Park, located just a short 30-minute drive away. Often described as a photographer’s paradise, this park is celebrated for its stunning landscapes and rich diversity of wildlife. Keep your camera ready you may spot the park’s famous tree-climbing lion, often seen resting elegantly on the branches of acacia trees, along with elephants, giraffes, and other iconic African animals.

Bird enthusiasts will delight in the park’s vibrant avian life, from flocks of pink flamingos shimmering along the lakeshore to the colorful lilac-breasted roller and majestic birds of prey soaring above. After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha for a day filled with scenic beauty and rich cultural experiences. Your adventure begins with a guided hike to the magnificent Materuni Waterfalls, a pleasant 40-minute walk through lush greenery and local farmland. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating insights about village life, Chagga culture, and the diverse plants and wildlife native to the region. On a clear day, you might even be treated to a breathtaking view of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak.

At the base of the falls, you’ll discover a tranquil natural pool perfect for a refreshing dip, so don’t forget your swimwear! Afterward, return to Materuni Village to savor a traditional Chagga-style lunch, prepared with fresh local ingredients and bursting with authentic flavor.
