After breakfast in Moshi, drive for about 45 minutes through charming coffee farms and mountain villages to the Machame Gate, where your adventure begins. Meet your mountain crew and complete registration before starting your trek through the lush montane rainforest. The trail winds gently uphill, shaded by giant ferns, moss-covered trees, and alive with the sounds of tropical birds and playful blue monkeys. You may spot colobus monkeys leaping between branches as mist curls through the forest canopy. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the trail before continuing steadily to Machame Camp. On arrival, relax, have dinner, and take in your first evening under the stars of Kilimanjaro.

After breakfast, leave the rainforest and climb steadily along a rocky ridge. As you gain altitude, the vegetation changes to heather and moorland, revealing wide-open views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. The air feels crisper and the trail opens up into vast alpine scenery. Take short breaks to enjoy the incredible views of Kibo Peak towering ahead. Arrive at Shira Camp in the afternoon, where you can relax and watch the sunset paint the clouds in brilliant colors above the African plains.

Today is all about acclimatization. The trail leads east toward Lava Tower, a volcanic formation standing at 4,650 meters. As you ascend, the landscape becomes drier and rockier, offering panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s glacier fields. After lunch near the Lava Tower, you’ll descend into the lush Barranco Valley — a breathtaking amphitheater dotted with giant senecio and lobelia plants. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adapt to the altitude, improving your chances of a successful summit.

After an early breakfast, begin your ascent of the legendary Barranco Wall — a steep but non-technical climb that rewards you with thrilling views of the valleys below. The camp sits on a windswept ridge with views of both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, offering a final rest before your midnight climb.

Your summit adventure begins just after midnight under a canopy of stars. Follow the zigzag trail up steep scree slopes toward Stella Point, arriving in time for a magical sunrise over Africa. Push on to Uhuru Peak — the highest point on the continent at 5,895m. Celebrate your achievement and take photos at the iconic summit sign before beginning the long descent. After a rest and lunch at Barafu Camp, continue down to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved sleep.

Meet your driver and return to Moshi for a hot shower, celebration dinner, and relaxation after conquering Africa’s highest mountain.
