Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Your excursion begins with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). You shall embark on a scenic drive to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, a journey that typically lasts a few hours, with the Great Rift Valley scenery in sight. You will arrive and check in at AA Lodge and have lunch. Afternoon, you will proceed for your first game drive in the Maasai Mara, driving through the open grassland and seeing lots of wildlife. Maasai Mara is one of Africa's most renowned game reserves, celebrated for its high density of wild animals, including the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo). You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Full Day Maasai Mara Exploration

The day is devoted to extensive game viewing in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. You take morning and afternoon game drives with ample time to study the diverse ecosystems and animal behaviors. Your experienced guide will help in tracking the animals and provide information on their habits. Depending on the season, it is possible to witness the spectacular Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras migrate across the Mara River in search of greener pastures. A picnic lunch can be taken to allow more time in the bush, or lunch can be eaten back at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the AA Lodge.

Maasai Village Visit and More Game Drives

In the morning after breakfast, you may go to a nearby Maasai village to observe their culture, traditions, and ways of life. The experience is a glimpse of the local people of the region. Following village visit, you may continue with additional game drives, traversing different sections of the reserve. This offers varied wildlife observation and photography. Dinner and overnight will be at the AA Lodge.

Maasai Mara - Optional Activities and Relaxation

Today is at leisure. You can opt for another full day of game drives, either to explore areas yet untouched or revisit areas you especially liked. Alternatively, you can go on an optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise (at an additional cost), which overlooks the breathtaking aerial vistas of the Mara and wildlife. An experience never to be missed. For the less active, you can pass part of the day at the lodge, with its amenities, or simply viewing the game from the lodge grounds. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the AA Lodge.
