Today is the highlight of your safari! After a briefing, set out on a guided trek through dense rainforest to meet a family of endangered mountain gorillas. Observe their gentle behavior up close, a moving, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Later, visit a local Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. Transfer to Return to Birdnest at Bunyonyi Resort along Lake Bunyonyi for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing day of canoeing, swimming, or simply soaking in the tranquility of Uganda’s most picturesque lake. Optional activities include island tours or local village walks. Thereafter, we leave behind the dense jungles of Bwindi and embark on a 6–7 hour drive. The route winds through Kabale, often called the “Switzerland of Africa,” and continues past Mbarara, a region famous for its striking long-horned cattle and extensive banana plantations (matooke). By late afternoon, we arrive at Lake Mburo National Park. On entering, there’s a good chance of encountering wildlife along the way. The park is a haven for bird enthusiasts and also shelters a wide range of animals including antelopes, buffalo, bushbuck, impalas, zebras, elands, hyenas, warthogs, and waterbuck. We settle in for the night at Rwakobo Rock lodge.

The final day of your Ugandan adventure begins with the soft glow of dawn over Lake Mburo National Park. The air is fresh and alive with birdsong, a reminder of the park’s charm for bird lovers. After an early breakfast, set out on a morning game drive as the savannah awakens. Look out for graceful impalas, striking zebras, majestic eland, and perhaps a shy leopard slipping into the acacia woodland. Alternatively, enjoy a guided nature walk with a ranger, learning about animal tracks, plants, and the park’s delicate ecosystem. If time allows, take a tranquil boat cruise on Lake Mburo to spot hippos, crocodiles, and colorful waterbirds. Later, return to Rwakobo Rock Lodge for a hearty brunch and a final view of the rolling hills before beginning your journey back to Entebbe. Stop at the Equator for photos and souvenirs before arriving in the evening, where your guide bids you farewell, marking the end of an unforgettable Ugandan journey.
