Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

Your safari expedition begins with an early morning pick-up in Nairobi. You'll drive through the stunning scenery down into the Great Rift Valley, Kenya's best game reserve, the Masai Mara. You will proceed directly to Mara Sopa Lodge for lunch and check in on arrival in the Masai Mara.
In the afternoon, you will go on your first game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The initial discovery allows for sight of the diverse and abundant wildlife the park is famous for, including large herbivores such as elephants, rhinos, and buffalo, and predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The open plains of the Mara ensure that wildlife is almost always in sight. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Mara Sopa.

Full-day in Masai Mara National Reserve

The day is spent exploring the vastness of the Masai Mara National Reserve on morning and afternoon game drives. You will have an early morning game drive to locate the most active animals. The reserve hosts a rich and diverse animal population that includes lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, elephants, kongoni, Topi, Thomson's gazelle, Defassa waterbuck, and eight primate species. You will have a full-day game drive with a full picnic lunch, which you can enjoy in a scenic location like the hippo pool along the Mara River, where you will probably spot hippos and sunbathing crocodiles.

Later in the afternoon, you will continue your game spotting. Alternatively, you can also take a trip to a Maasai village to see the people around, learn their culture, and witness traditional dances (for an additional amount). You will return to Mara Sopa Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Full-day in Masai Mara National Reserve

Another entire day will be spent exploring the Masai Mara. The reserve is also renowned as one of Africa's Greatest Wildlife Reserves, due to the high densities of big cats and the legendary Maasai people. You will take morning and afternoon game drives, with even more opportunities to track the wildlife and witness the stunning natural scenery of the Mara.

This day also offers the chance to add on extra activities to your safari, such as a sunrise hot air balloon experience over the Mara plains, offering a dramatic bird's eye view of the country and wildlife (additional cost). Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Mara Sopa Lodge.

Depart Masai Mara to Nairobi

Your final day has an early morning wake-up call for another game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The early morning is when wildlife is usually active, providing you with a last chance to spot the animals you have not yet seen or witness new behaviors. After the game drive, you will return to Mara Sopa Lodge for a relaxed breakfast and check out. Following breakfast, you will depart the Masai Mara for the return road trip to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your onward flights, or at a pre-arranged hotel within the city if extending your stay.
