Chimpanzee Tracking

Chimpanzee Tracking

After breakfast, transfer to the Centre for a comprehensive orientation conducted by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The forest canopy is thick and humid, filled with bird calls and the distant shrieks of primates. Trekking on foot to locate the wild chimpanzees is both thrilling and educational. Once you encounter them, spend an hour watching their daily routine – mothers nursing infants, juveniles swinging playfully, and dominant males asserting their rank. The experience is intimate and enlightening, giving you a genuine sense of coexistence with nature. Kibale also shelters red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and colorful butterflies that fill the sunlight gaps above you. After returning, enjoy a late lunch and leisure time at the lodge. You can explore nearby crater lakes on foot or visit Fort Portal for souvenir shopping and street snacks. In the evening, gather around a small bonfire, share stories with your guide, and fall asleep to the whispering breeze of the forest.

Lunch is taken in Kabale or Ntungamo before continuing along winding roads that reveal panoramic views of the Kigezi Highlands. This is sometimes called the Switzerland of Africa because of its terraced slopes and cool mountain air. Along the way, your driver will stop for photo moments and to stretch. Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

This day delivers the heart of your Ugandan safari. After an early breakfast, head to the ranger post for registration and a detailed briefing. In small groups, you trek into the dense rainforest guided by trackers who follow the clues of broken bamboo and recent nests. The terrain is steep and sometimes slippery, but the reward is profound. When you finally meet a family of mountain gorillas, the forest seems to hold its breath. For one unforgettable hour, you watch them feed, groom, and interact – a giant silverback keeping watch while playful juveniles tumble nearby. This rare face-to-face moment is emotional and worth every step. After returning from the forest, have lunch and then travel about two hours to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s most picturesque lake. Its 29 small islands scattered among terraced hills create a postcard scene of serenity. Check in at your lakeside lodge and relax as the sun sets behind the mist hills.
