Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Mekele at 10:00 AM. After a scenic drive through dramatic volcanic landscapes and Afar villages, you arrive at Seba Camp near Hamed Ela—your gateway to the Danakil Depression. Enjoy a freshly prepared lunch, then take time to relax in the warm desert atmosphere.

In the late afternoon, your guide leads you to the vast salt flats, one of the most iconic landscapes in Danakil. As the sun begins to set, the white salt crystals glow with golden and pastel colors, creating the perfect setting for unforgettable photos. You can also enjoy a refreshing dip in a nearby natural salty lake, known for its buoyant mineral-rich water.

Return to Seba Camp after sunset, where you settle in for a peaceful desert night. Fall asleep under the brilliant star-filled sky—an authentic Danakil experience.

Rise early for an unforgettable sunrise drive deep into the Danakil Depression, reaching one of the lowest points on Earth. Watch as the first light turns the salt flats soft pink and golden—a breathtaking display of nature’s raw beauty. After sunrise, explore the surreal sulfur springs and acid ponds, with vibrant yellow, green, and orange mineral formations, bubbling pools, and steaming vents, creating one of the most unique geological landscapes on the planet. Return to Seba Camp for lunch and a short rest, then drive back to Mekele through dramatic volcanic scenery, arriving around 4:00 PM. You may take an evening flight to Addis Ababa or stay overnight in Mekele.
