Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Arusha toward the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. As you descend into this vast geological formation, the terrain becomes increasingly rugged and remote, offering sweeping views of volcanic mountains and Maasai settlements scattered along the way. Upon approaching Lake Natron, the striking silhouette of Ol Doinyo Lengai Tanzania’s “Mountain of God” dominates the horizon. After arrival at your lodge or camp, take some time to relax before heading out for an afternoon walk along the lakeshore, where thousands of flamingos gather in the alkaline shallows. Spend the night accompanied by the stillness and unique beauty of this otherworldly environment.

Later, learn about the ecology of this harsh yet fascinating landscape, where only highly adapted species can survive.
