Volcanoe Gorilla trekking

After breakfast, you will drive to the Kinigi Headquarters Visitors Information Center for a briefing about trekking gorillas in the small but rewarding Volcanoes National Park.

Following the briefing, you will embark on your trek to see the magnificent mountain gorillas — one of the most endangered species on the planet. The total trek may take anywhere from 3 to 8 hours. While the search for the gorillas can be strenuous, the experience is extremely rewarding. Later in the afternoon, you will return to your lodge to relax and reflect on your day, possibly writing in your journal or listening to music.

As its name suggests, Volcanoes National Park is a vital stronghold for the mountain gorilla and one of only four places in the world where this charismatic ape can be observed in the wild. The park boasts an impressive elevation range, from 2,227 meters at the entrance to 4,127 meters at the summit of Muhabura.
