Day 1

Addis Ababa to Abijatta-Shalla National Park & Lake Langano Stay

Depart early from Addis Ababa and drive approximately 200 km south through the scenic Ethiopian highlands and Rift Valley landscapes (3.5–4 hours). Along the way, enjoy views of rural villages, farmlands, and rolling hills, arriving at Abijatta-Shalla National Park by mid-morning.

Explore Lake Abijatta, famous for its large flocks of flamingos and abundant birdlife. Spot baboons, zebras, and other wildlife across the savanna while enjoying excellent photography opportunities. Take a short walk along the lakeshore to fully experience the park’s unique landscapes and ecosystems. Enjoy a picnic or lunch by the lake before departing for Lake Langano.

Drive about 1.5 hours to Lake Langano, a beautiful freshwater lake ideal for relaxation after a day of wildlife spotting. Check into a comfortable lodge by the lake, where you can swim, relax, or enjoy the scenic surroundings.

After breakfast at the lodge by Lake Langano, enjoy a relaxing morning by the lake or take a short walk along the shore. Then drive about 1.5 hours back to Abijatta-Shalla National Park for a final visit, exploring any areas you may have missed, taking photos of flamingos, baboons, or other wildlife, and enjoying the serene lake scenery.

After this short visit, depart mid-morning for Addis Ababa (~3–3.5 hours), passing scenic Rift Valley landscapes and rural villages. Arrive in Addis Ababa in the early afternoon, concluding your memorable 1-night, 2-day wildlife and scenic escape.
