Day 1

Arusha town– Tarangire National Park

Arusha town– Tarangire National Park

Your Armadillo Adventures safari guide will meet you at your accommodation, after breakfast, and begin the journey to Tarangire National Park. The Park is defined by the Tarangire River that sustains wildlife throughout the dry season. You are likely to encounter large elephant herds, along with giraffes, plains zebras, wildebeest, impalas, bushbucks, and hartebeests. The diversity of herbivores supports a healthy predator population, and sightings of them are common. There are also hundreds of migratory and native bird species. The landscape is characterized by towering baobab trees, which create dramatic photographic backdrops. A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic location within the park, allowing time to observe wildlife activity nearby. The afternoon is dedicated to further game viewing before leaving the park and continuing to the cooler highlands of Karatu, where you will check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

The journey continues across volcanic landscapes and Maasai grazing areas before entering Serengeti National Park through the Lodoare Gate in the southern Serengeti.
Upon arrival, enjoy an en-route game drive across the open plains, home to large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and resident predators including lions and cheetahs. The Serengeti is also famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, which moves seasonally in search of fresh grazing.

Game drive in Serengeti National Park

The day is dedicated to extensive game drives in Serengeti National Park. The Park supports a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including impalas, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, and large herds of plains game. Predator sightings are common, with opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, and, with luck, elusive leopards.
Game drives are planned to follow seasonal wildlife movements, and if conditions allow, you may travel beyond the Central Serengeti to observe sections of the Great Migration. With its endless plains, dramatic skies, and constant wildlife activity, the Serengeti delivers one of Africa’s most unforgettable safari experiences.

The crater floor supports large populations of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, buffaloes, hippos, and an impressive variety of birdlife. This is also one of the best places in Tanzania to encounter the endangered black rhinoceros in its natural habitat.
After an extensive game drive inside the crater, ascend to the rim and continue to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
