Depart from Kampala early (around 6:00 AM) for the scenic 6-7 hour drive northeast through Mbale. Alternatively, arrange a charter flight to nearby Kidepo airstrip.

heading south through the remote and magical Karamoja tribal region with volcanoes rising out of the savannah plains and everywhere the villages and ornate bomas of the Karamojong. Short detour to Nakaperumoru to meet the people of the Jie warrior tribe. Lunchstop by Mount Moroto at the Karatunga Foundation, a community enterprise supporting the Karamoja region.

Day 2

GAme drive and cultural encounters

Begin with an early morning breakfast and head for a game drive when wildlife is most active. This is prime time for spotting predators like cheetahs and leopards. Visit the Loporokocho swamp area, excellent for birdwatching with species like the Abyssinian ground hornbill and Karamoja apalis.

Return to the lodge for a leisurely brunch. Relax by the pool or enjoy a spa treatment if available at your lodge.
Take a cultural excursion to visit a Karamojong village (manyatta). Experience traditional dance performances, learn about their pastoral lifestyle, and see their distinctive homesteads. This offers fascinating insight into one of Uganda's most traditional communities.

Stop at scenic viewpoints like Mount Kadam for panoramic views of the reserve as the sun begins to set.

Bush dinner under the stars at a specially prepared site within the reserve, complete with traditional music, premium wines, and a multi-course meal. This is a truly magical experience unique to luxury safaris.

Morning Safari & Departure

Final early morning game drive focusing on areas you haven't yet explored. Your guide can tailor this to wildlife you're hoping to see. Visit rock formations and kopjes where klipspringers and rock hyraxes can be spotted.
Mid-Morning:
Return to the lodge for a full breakfast. Pack and check out, but not before one last look at the spectacular landscape.
Optional Add-on:
If time permits before your journey back, visit the nearby Sipi Falls (about 2.5 hours away) for a coffee plantation tour and waterfall trek, or explore Mbale town.
