Your luxury safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi, followed by a scenic drive north through Kenya’s changing landscapes, from fertile highlands to arid plains. Upon arrival at Samburu National Reserve, you will check in at your luxury lodge or upscale tented camp, ideally located along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. After enjoying lunch and time to relax, you will head out in the afternoon for your first game drive. The reserve is renowned for its unique wildlife, including the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. You will also encounter elephants, lions, and an abundance of birdlife. As the sun sets, you will return to your lodge or camp for a gourmet dinner and overnight stay.

Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, you will spend the day exploring Samburu National Reserve on extended game drives, allowing you to fully appreciate the rugged beauty and distinctive wildlife of this northern frontier. With a picnic lunch or a return to the lodge for lunch, your safari will take you along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where animals gather to drink, and across open plains and rocky outcrops that offer excellent vantage points for wildlife viewing. Samburu provides exceptional opportunities to observe predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as large herds of elephants. In the afternoon, you may choose to enjoy an optional cultural visit to a Samburu village to learn about their traditions, colorful attire, and nomadic lifestyle. You will return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the African wilderness.
