Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, driving north through Kenya’s central highlands with scenic views of tea and coffee plantations. You will arrive in the Aberdare region in time for lunch at a base lodge, after which you transfer to a tree or forest lodge located within Aberdare National Park. The afternoon is spent at leisure as wildlife comes to drink at nearby waterholes, offering excellent opportunities to observe elephants, buffaloes, bushbuck, and possibly black rhino from the lodge’s viewing decks. Dinner and overnight are spent in the serene forest setting, surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Day 2

After breakfast, you depart the Aberdare highlands and journey north toward the rugged and semi-arid landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. The drive passes through dramatic scenery, crossing the equator en route, before arriving at your lodge or camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you embark on your first game drive in Samburu, renowned for its unique wildlife species such as the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk. The Ewaso Nyiro River attracts a variety of animals, including elephants and predators. You return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight.

This full day is dedicated to exploring Samburu National Reserve. An early morning game drive allows you to witness wildlife at its most active, with excellent chances of spotting lions, leopards, and cheetahs against the striking backdrop of rocky hills and acacia trees. After breakfast, you may relax at the lodge or opt for a cultural visit to a nearby Samburu village to learn about the traditional lifestyle of this semi-nomadic community. A later afternoon game drive offers further opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

Following an early breakfast, you depart Samburu and travel south through Kenya’s changing landscapes toward the Great Rift Valley. The drive is scenic and varied, with lunch en route or upon arrival at Lake Nakuru National Park. In the afternoon, you enjoy a game drive around the alkaline lake, famous for its flamingos and rich birdlife, as well as for being a sanctuary for both black and white rhinos. You may also encounter Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, and tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge within or near the park.
