Kigali city tour and overnight in Kigali

After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your driver guide, who will give you a briefing of this safari and the day's program. You will thereafter drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial for an insight into the 1994 Rwanda genocide. At the site, 250,000 victims of the 1994 Rwanda genocide were laid to rest. Today, this is an honored place to remember the victims of the genocide, but it also tells a lot about the reconciliation of Rwandans and how fast their country is growing.
From here, you will visit Nyamiramabo Women’s Centre, a non-profit organisation that has been supporting disadvantaged women to improve their livelihoods. Then visit OneCup for the coffee masterclass and drive back to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Transfer to Musanze and visit Ellen DeGenres of Dian Fossey Fund

After breakfast, you will meet your safari driver, who will assist with loading all your luggage into the vehicle. Set off to Volcanoes National Park, a journey that will last about 3 hours, including stopovers to capture the scenic views and stretch the body. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be assisted to check in and then head to Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about how the foundation supports conservation of mountain gorillas.

Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing with optional activities of gorilla guardians experience, community walk, the traditional cooking experience, or the coffee experience.

The Gorilla trekking experience

This is an exciting morning of the gorilla trekking day, and it starts with an early breakfast at the lodge, followed by a transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters. You will be briefed after the allocation of the gorilla family to visit. Then set off to search for the mountain gorillas in the forested Volcanoes jungle. When you find them, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence. If you meet them in the morning hours, you may find them more active as they are still feeding, while they tend to relax as it comes to noon hours. After the precious moment with them, you will exit the forest and return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Optional activity in the evening, depending on the time the trek ends – visit Handspun Hope where talented women make beautiful handcrafts with yarn.

Golden monkey trekking and twin lakes tour

After breakfast, head to the park offices for a briefing about golden monkey trekking. Thereafter, you will set off to the forest to look out for the golden monkeys. The initial walk will take you through the community neighboring the park. When you come across the golden monkeys, you will have an hour with them. They are playful little primates, often jumping from one branch to another, so you will keep following them. From here, drive back to the lodge, enjoy an early lunch, and go for the boat ride on the twin lakes. You will take a short boat ride to the island, where you will enjoy beautiful views of the Volcanoes, other islands, and refresh with the breeze.

Return to Kigali, shopping, and departure

Bid farewell to Musanze and drive to Kigali, where you will first visit Kimironko market, one of the biggest local markets in the city. It is popularly known for its variety of items, from food to African handmade art pieces of all kinds. While on the tour here, you will be guided by your safari driver to the sections to purchase specific items that you may need for souvenirs. You will later on be dropped off at your hotel or airport, marking a wonderful tour in Rwanda.
