Day 1

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our company representative and have a briefing of your safari with more emphasis on the program for this day. Depending on your time of arrival, you can first have lunch and then visit the Genocide Memorial. This is a highlight attraction in Rwanda and a great way to start your tour, as it gives a great introduction to its sad history and the amazing reconciliation and development.
Later, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kigali. Check in and prepare to have dinner and relax.

Day 2

Kigali to Nyungwe National Park, ziplining and canopy walk

Kigali to Nyungwe National Park, ziplining and canopy walk

Your safari driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and set off to Nyungwe National Park. It is a somewhat long journey taking you through the winding roads, calm towns, and the thick Nyungwe forest. On arrival at the park offices, you will be briefed and proceed to the ziplining starting point, enjoy the adventure, and connect to the canopy walk. These experiences are exciting and offer great views of Nyungwe forest and the surrounding area, including hills at a distance. From here, you will exit the park and head to the lodge for your next stay.

Day 3

Chimp trekking and optional tea plantation experience

Chimp trekking and optional tea plantation experience

After an early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the park offices for a briefing about chimp trekking. Meet the guides who will lead you through the forest as you go looking for the chimps. As you walk through the jungle, they will give you information, including the park's history, about the vegetation and animals in the park. When you spot the chimpanzees, you will have an hour to watch and observe them, take photos, learn about their behaviours, and other facts. Later on, exit the park and drive back to the lodge for lunch. You can choose to spend the afternoon relaxing or opt for evening activities such as the tea plantation experience or nature walk.

Day 4

You will bid farewell to Nyungwe and set off for Kigali. About midway through the journey, stop over at King’s palace in Nyanza for a tour that combines culture and history. You will learn about the ancient Rwandan kingdom, the culture of Rwandans, and meet the Inyambo cow. You will then proceed to Kigali, arriving in the late afternoon or evening, check into your previous city hotel, have dinner, and relax.

Day 5

After enjoying your morning breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your safari driver and head to Akagera National Park. Stop over at Imigongo for a cup of coffee and proceed to the park. Upon arrival at the park, check in to the park offices and later head to Lake Ihema for the sunset boat ride. It is a fabulous experience offering great views of the park and an opportunity to spot crocodiles, hippos and other animals along the lake shores. After the boat trip, drive to the lodge, check in, have dinner, and rest.

Morning game drive and return to Kigali

You will wake up to a delicious breakfast at the lodge, check out, and go for the morning game drive that will give you a chance to see the Big Five, giraffes, zebras and antelopes, among others. After the drive, exit the park and drive to Kigali. Your safari driver will drop you off at the hotel or airport, marking a remarkable safari.
