Day 1

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel, meet your safari guide, and drive to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will have a tour to learn about the 1994 Rwanda genocide. More than 250,000 victims of the horrible genocide were laid to rest here, and it is currently an honored place of remembrance for these victims. The tour offers a chance to deeply understand how Rwanda was affected by the genocide and how amazingly it has grown and developed.
From here, you will set off to Nyungwe National Park, where you will arrive in the evening.

Optional visit of the King’s Palace in Nyanza. This activity would offer an opportunity to learn about Rwanda's monarchical history.

Day 2

Canopy walk and tea plantation tour

Canopy walk and tea plantation tour

This morning, you will have your breakfast at your lodge in Nyungwe before heading to the park. Upon arrival at the park offices, you will be briefed and then go for the canopy walk. It includes treks rewarding with the forest jungle experience of a noise free environment. Later, you will arrive at the starting point of the canopy walkway. Enjoy the walk, the views, and the exhilarating experience. At the end of the walk, you will meet your driver and go for the tea plantation tour. Then return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Optional activity: waterfall hike.

Day 3

Chimp trekking and transfer to Lake Kivu

Chimp trekking and transfer to Lake Kivu

This morning starts with an early breakfast at the lodge, check out, and head to Nyungwe Park for chimp trekking. You will meet other trekkers and have a briefing about the activity just before you penetrate the forest. At this point, you will also meet the ranger guide who will lead you on the trek. They are knowledgeable about the forest and will therefore share a lot of information in addition to the chimpanzees. When you find the chimps, you will spend a maximum of one hour with them: watching them, taking photos, and learning about their behaviour. Meet your driver and set off to Karongi, where you will spend the evening relaxing near Lake Kivu.

Day 4

Kayaking, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Kayaking, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge and embark on a kayaking adventure on Lake Kivu. It is a quietly enjoyable activity as you sail on the calm waters of Lake Kivu and take in the beautiful views of the surroundings. Later, you will return to the lodge, check out, and set off to Volcanoes National Park. On arrival, you will check in to your booked lodge and enjoy their services.

Optional visit of Ibere rya Bigogwe.

Day 5

Golden monkey trekking and Gorilla Guardians experience

The trekking day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge before you head to the park offices, where you will meet other trekkers and get a briefing about golden monkey trekking. The trek can last for about 3 - 4 hours, as golden monkeys are easier to find compared to mountain gorillas.
After the trek, you will head to the Gorilla Guardian’s village, where you will immerse yourself in Rwanda’s rich cultural traditions. Among these, the members of the village will present to you the traditional Rwandan wedding. Later, you will drive back to the lodge, have lunch and spend the afternoon preparing for the next day's adventure.

Optional activity: boat ride on the Twin Lakes.

Day 6

Bisoke hike

Bisoke hike

After a restful night, wake up to a yummy breakfast at the lodge, pick up your backpack with all essentials for the hike, and head to the park offices for a briefing. You will meet your guides for the hike and set off for the adventure to the top of Mt. Bisoke, which is rewarded with beautiful views of the crater lake. The hike takes about 7 hours to the top and back. When you return, you will have lunch at the lodge and rest.

Today, after having your relaxed breakfast, you will bid farewell to Musanze and drive through the winding roads connecting to Kigali. You can first do some shopping around the city craft shops or Kimironko market, and later be dropped off at the airport for departure.
