Nairobi – Ruma National Park

Your safari begins with a pick-up from JKIA or your Nairobi hotel in the morning. Drive west towards Ruma National Park, located in Homa Bay County. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before proceeding for an afternoon game drive through the park. Ruma is known for its rare roan antelope, Rothschild’s giraffe, zebra, buffalo and diverse birdlife. Enjoy the scenic Lambwe Valley and surrounding landscapes before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Ruma National Park – Kakamega Forest

After breakfast, depart Ruma National Park and drive towards Kakamega Forest for specialized birding and game drives. Enjoy the changing scenery as you travel through western Kenya. Upon arrival, check in and have lunch before exploring the forest on an afternoon nature walk. Kakamega is renowned for its indigenous rainforest, rich birdlife, butterflies, monkeys and diverse plant species. Enjoy the peaceful forest atmosphere before returning to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Kakamega Forest - Saiwa Swamp National Park

After breakfast, depart Kakamega and proceed towards Saiwa Swamp National Park near Kitale. After lunch, explore the park on foot along its forest trails and raised boardwalks. Keep an eye out for the rare sitatunga antelope and De Brazza’s monkeys, while enjoying the excellent birdwatching opportunities. Saiwa is Kenya’s smallest national park and offers a very different experience from the traditional vehicle-based safari.
