On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional safari guide from Lineage Gorilla Safaris and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the hotel or take an optional evening stroll along the shores of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake. This day is designed for rest after your journey and a smooth start to your Uganda primates adventure, with a briefing on the safari route and what to expect in the coming days.

Day 2

Entebbe – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, we begin our journey north towards Uganda’s greatest wilderness, Murchison Falls National Park. En route, we stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an unforgettable walking rhino tracking experience, where you’ll see white rhinos at close range in their natural habitat making this safari a true Big Five experience. After lunch, continue through scenic countryside and local trading centres, arriving in Murchison Falls later in the day for check-in and relaxation at your lodge.

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive in Murchison’s savannah plains, one of Uganda’s best areas for wildlife viewing. Look out for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and with luck, lions and leopards. After lunch, enjoy the famous boat safari on the Nile cruising towards the base of the mighty falls, passing large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and countless bird species. If time allows, you may also hike to the Top of the Falls for breathtaking views and photo opportunities.

Today is a scenic full-day drive towards western Uganda, passing through changing landscapes of rolling hills, tea plantations, and beautiful countryside. The journey is part of the experience as you discover the “real Uganda” beyond the parks. Arrive in the Kibale Forest region near Fort Portal, known as Uganda’s, most beautiful area and the country’s primate capital, home to 13 primate species. Check in at the lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening surrounded by nature.

After an early breakfast, head into the forest for the highlight of the day: chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park. With guidance from expert rangers, track these intelligent primates through the rainforest, witnessing them feeding, playing, calling, and moving through the canopy. After lunch, enjoy the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk, a rewarding community-based experience where you can spot red colobus monkeys, mangabeys, beautiful birds, and learn about local conservation and culture. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

This morning, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular park and one of Africa’s most diverse ecosystems. Along the way you’ll enjoy stunning views of crater lakes and the Rwenzori foothills (weather permitting). After checking in, head out for an evening game drive in the Kasenyi plains, where wildlife sightings are excellent Uganda kob, buffalo, elephants and predators such as lions are often seen here. End the day with a beautiful sunset over the savannah.

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning before heading for the iconic Kazinga Channel boat cruise, one of the best wildlife boat experiences in Africa. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and attracts huge concentrations of animals. Expect close sightings of hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and a variety of birds including African fish eagles and kingfishers. This is an easy day with plenty of photography opportunities, and later you return to the lodge for leisure time and dinner.

After breakfast, travel through the famous Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known worldwide for the rare tree-climbing lions that often rest in fig trees. This area also offers a chance to see large herds of buffalo, elephants and antelopes. After lunch, continue the journey to the misty highlands of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Experience

Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Experience

Today is the main highlight of your safari: mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After early breakfast, you will attend a ranger briefing, then set off into the rainforest in small groups. The trek may take between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location, but the reward is extraordinary spending one full hour in the presence of mountain gorillas in the wild, observing their behaviour, family bonds, and gentle nature. After trekking, return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
