Day 3
Gorilla Trekking

Early breakfast before proceeding to the park head quarters where visitors assemble at 07.00 for a briefing on how to “behave “while in the company of a gorilla group. You will meet your guide here and proceed to the starting point of the trek to our allocated group of gorillas. The length of the trek (2-6 h) varies depending on where the gorillas are as well as what the weather conditions are. It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers for protection against stinging nettles, some snacks & sweets.

Following lunch, experience the heart of Rwandan culture at Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. Here, you’ll discover traditional music, dance, crafts, and the stories of Rwanda’s people – brought to life in this immersive cultural center.

Day 4

Bisoke Volcano hiking
Climb the Mount Bisoke (3711 m), one of eight volcanoes in the Virunga range. You will discover during the hiking of Mt Bisoke, a huge panoramic view of the chain of 8 volcanoes on the borders of Uganda and Congo, the highest of which is the Karisimbi with 4,507m.
Accompanied by a National Park guide, you will gradually climb through the different levels of vegetation, from bamboo to the equatorial forest, to heather and giant groundsel. Three to four hours of walking will be necessary to climb the 1200 meters of vertical drop, before reaching the summit where a lake occupies the summit crater. The view covers the surrounding volcanoes, including Nyiragongo, still active.

After breakfast, enjoy the serene beauty of Lake Kivu. Spend the morning relaxing on the beach, swimming in the clear waters, or participating in a variety of lakeside activities. We’ll also take a boat trip to an island to learn about and pay respects to the ancient pygmy tribes who once inhabited the area.
Afternoon: Gisenyi Town & a Glimpse of the DRC
This afternoon, we’ll explore the charming town of Gisenyi, experiencing its vibrant atmosphere. We’ll also visit the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, offering a unique view of the active Nyiragongo volcano – a truly remarkable sight.

After breakfast, start your trek towards Kimbiri, where you will “experience coffee”, from sowing to a cup of coffee, visiting the plantations, sorting, drying, and finally roasting. Then drive ahead to Kibuye, on the way enjoy the nature at Crete Congo-Nil with a good view of Lake Kivu and its surroundings, on a clear day, you can see the chain of volcanoes including Karisimbi with the highest peak in Rwanda at an altitude of 4507 m.

This morning, we’ll meet at the Park Office for a briefing from our expert guide, who will lead you on a trek through the forest in search of chimpanzees and other primates.
After lunch at your hotel, we’ll delve into Rwanda’s thriving tea industry with a guided experience at a local plantation. You’ll learn about the entire tea-making process, from seed to cup, with the opportunity to participate in harvesting tea leaves alongside local workers and witness the processing firsthand at the Tea Factory

This morning, you’ll venture into the unique Kamiranzovu swamp, a haven for birdwatchers, in search of rare species like the Ruwenzori turaco and Grauer’s swamp warbler.
For those seeking adventure, the waterfall trail leads to the stunning Ndambarare waterfall, a 9.6km round trip offering a captivating blend of challenge and natural beauty.
Ye’ll enjoy lunch in Gisakura before concluding the day with a tour of Rusizi city, a vibrant twin city to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A.m: After early breakfast drive to Butare and visit ethnographic Museum. It is believed that this house is one of the most Africa’s finest ethnographic collections, artistic, and artifacts accompanied by visual aids, giving visitors a rich insight into the culture of Rwandans.
Pm: After lunch in Butare town, then drive to Nyanza and visit Rukari King’s palace for monarchs and learn more about the diversity of Rwandan culture and lives in the past years. Then follow the road to Kigali.
