Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Encounter
Estimated trekking time: 2–6 hours depending on gorilla location
Today is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, you'll head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the rainforest with experienced ranger guides in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek takes you through dense vegetation & rugged terrain, and the reward is an hour spent observing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Watching them feed, interact, and care for one another offers a rare glimpse into their lives.
Mountain gorillas are found only in a few protected forests in Uganda, Rwanda, and DRC, making this one of the most exclusive wildlife encounters on Earth.
Later in the day, immerse yourself in a Batwa cultural experience. Through storytelling, traditional songs, dance, and demonstrations of forest survival skills, you'll gain insight into the heritage of the Batwa people, who lived in these forests for generations before the establishment of the national park.
