Your safari begins with a warm welcome from your private guide at your hotel in Kigali after breakfast. Start with a meaningful visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide and gain insight into Rwanda’s history and resilience.
Afterward, depart the city and journey north through Rwanda’s famed rolling hills on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park. Made famous by the pioneering research of Dian Fossey, the park is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Virunga Mountains and is home to rare mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

Day 2

After an early briefing at the Kinigi headquarters in Volcanoes National Park, set out at 7 am for an exciting golden monkey tracking experience. Accompanied by expert rangers, venture into the bamboo forest in search of these endangered primates. The activity lasts about four hours, including a memorable one hour encounter as you observe them leap through the trees, playfully roll along bamboo stems, and reveal their distinctive golden coats and silver patches.
Later, transfer to the renowned gorilla habitat of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The scenic drive passes through lush tropical rainforest and the rolling terraced hills of Kigezi, often called the “Switzerland of East Africa.” Arrive at your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner as you prepare for the next day’s unforgettable gorilla adventure.

Day 3

Enjoy an early breakfast and then proceed to the briefing point for the highlight of your trip, gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Accompanied by experienced rangers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority, trek through rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek lasts 2 to 6 hours depending on the group’s location. Although the walk can be challenging, the moment you see a majestic silverback makes every step worthwhile. A packed lunch is provided due to the variable duration.
Afterward, drive through the scenic terraced hills to Lake Bunyonyi where you can enjoy canoeing, swimming in safe waters, hiking island trails, bird watching, and community walks to meet locals while experiencing the area’s rich wildlife and culture.
Day 4

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a guided canoe ride. Take in the peaceful scenery and enjoy optional activities such as bird watching or short island walks. Later, cross the border into Rwanda and continue to Kigali, carrying memories of the rare mountain gorillas. Enjoy an en route lunch before arriving late in the evening for drop-off at your hotel or airport as you bid farewell to the Pearl of Africa.
