Your journey begins at Lemosho Gate where park registration takes place in Kilimanjaro National Park. After a short drive to the trailhead, begin trekking through dense rainforest filled with giant trees, moss, and wildlife such as colobus monkeys. The gentle trail leads to Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. The trail gradually ascends along scenic ridges with beautiful views of the Shira Plateau and surrounding valleys before reaching Shira 1 Camp.

Day 3
Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Today you trek across the wide Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world. The trail is relatively gentle, allowing time for acclimatization while enjoying panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding landscapes.

Day 4
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Trek toward the famous Lava Tower at 4,600 meters before descending to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps improve acclimatization while offering dramatic alpine scenery.

Day 5

Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble that rewards climbers with spectacular views. Continue trekking through valleys and ridges before arriving at Karanga Camp.

Day 6
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp

Today’s trek leads to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. Spend the afternoon resting, eating dinner early, and preparing for the midnight ascent to the summit.

Day 7
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. Trek steeply to Stella Point and continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Mweka Camp.

After breakfast, descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate where you receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for relaxation and celebration.
