Get picked up from your hotel in the morning around 9h00 Windhoek and drive to Sossusvlei.

The 5-hour (345 km) route from Windhoek to Sesriem follows the main road southwards to Rehoboth before turning onto the gravel.

Day 2: Sossusvlei Excursion and Windhoek
Wake up early for a sunrise hike up Dune 45. Watch as the colors of the dunes change with the ever-altering light. Have breakfast and continue to the 2x4 car park, where all 2-wheel drive vehicles have to stop.

Enter the ancient Tsauchab Riverbed for the last 5km leg to Sossusvlei, an ancient pan completely surrounded by sand that is strikingly populated with dead, skeletal camelthorn trees.

Explore the area on foot and climb one of the highest dunes in the world. Drive back to Sesriem for lunch and take a short excursion to see the Sesriem Canyon. Walk into the riverbed and follow the river for some way along its journey to Sossusvlei.

Head back to the gate and enjoy the mountain scenery on the drive back to Windhoek.
