Day 1
You will be collected and taken on a journey through some of Cape Town’s most historic and culturally rich townships. The tour will begin in District Six, once home to over 60,000 people, primarily of African descent, where life was marked by extreme poverty before the area’s forced removals. The tour will continue to Langa, one of South Africa’s oldest townships, which includes the Jo Slovo Informal Settlement, offering insight into the resilience and spirit of its residents. Then to Bonteheuwel, Cape Town’s first Coloured state-rental township, and learn about its history and community life. Finally, explore Gugulethu, a large and predominantly Black township, where despite challenges, the neighbourhood remains vibrant, welcoming, and full of warmth and hospitality.
