Drive to Simien Mountains – Sankaber Trek Start

Early morning drive from Gondar to Simien Mountains National Park passing through Debark for park registration and permits. Continue to Buyit Ras where your trekking adventure begins. Start a 3–4 hour hike toward Sankaber campsite along dramatic escarpments with breathtaking cliff views. Along the way, watch for endemic Gelada baboons grazing near the cliffs. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as you approach camp. Your support crew meets you at designated points while you enjoy the first night under canvas in the highlands.

Sankaber to Geech Trek

Begin trekking from Sankaber to Geech through Afro-alpine vegetation filled with heather, moss, and unique highland plants. The trail offers opportunities to spot klipspringers and numerous bird species. Midway, enjoy spectacular views of the Jinbar Waterfall cascading into deep valleys. Stop for a picnic lunch by the river surrounded by pristine wilderness. Continue ascending gradually toward Geech village, passing traditional highland settlements and open moorlands. Arrive at Geech campsite for dinner and overnight stay surrounded by peaceful mountain scenery.

Imet Gogo & Scenic Circuit Hike

After breakfast, hike toward Imet Gogo, one of the most famous viewpoints in the Simien Mountains. From here, enjoy panoramic views of deep canyons, volcanic formations, and endless mountain ridges. Continue across Afro-alpine meadows toward Lobelia Valley, home to giant lobelias and unique vegetation. Proceed to Saha viewpoint for lunch with breathtaking canyon views. The route continues to Kedadit viewpoint before descending back to Geech campsite for overnight stay after a full day of spectacular trekking and photography.

Geech to Chennek Trek

Depart Geech for a full-day trek to Chennek Camp. The trail includes gradual ascents through high-altitude landscapes with dramatic scenery. Reach Enateye peak area offering views of Ras Dashen and surrounding mountains. After lunch with panoramic views, descend toward Chennek where wildlife sightings include Walia ibex and Gelada baboons. The dramatic cliffs and open valleys provide excellent photography opportunities. Arrive at Chennek campsite for overnight stay in one of the most scenic parts of the Simien Mountains.
