After breakfast, you’ll drive from Arusha/Moshi to Marangu Gate for registration. The trek begins through lush rainforest, where you may spot colobus monkeys and a variety of birdlife. The trail is well-defined and gently ascending.
You’ll arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon. If time allows, you can take a short walk to the Maundi Crater for scenic views of northern Tanzania and Kenya.

Day 2
Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Habitat: Moorland
Leaving the forest behind, the trail opens into moorland with expansive views. You’ll pass giant lobelias and groundsels—unique alpine vegetation found on Kilimanjaro.
On clear days, enjoy stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Arrive at Horombo Hut, where you’ll have time to relax and acclimatize.

Day 3

Elevation: 3,720m (with optional hike higher)
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours (optional)
This extra day is crucial for acclimatization and greatly improves your chances of reaching the summit. You’ll take an optional hike toward Zebra Rocks (approx. 4,000m), then return to Horombo for rest.
Spend the afternoon relaxing, hydrating, and enjoying the mountain environment.

Day 4

Habitat: Alpine Desert
Today’s trek crosses the vast saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. The landscape becomes more rugged and sparse, with dramatic alpine desert scenery.
Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon. After an early dinner, you’ll rest and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 5
Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Horombo Hut

Habitat: Arctic
Your summit push begins around midnight. Trek slowly and steadily toward Gilman’s Point (5,685m), then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating at the summit and taking photos, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut.
This is the most challenging but also the most rewarding day of the climb.

Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
After breakfast, descend through moorland and rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival, you’ll sign out and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate.
A vehicle will transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha/Moshi for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
