Day 1
Your day begins with an early pickup from your Kampala hotel, followed by a briefing on Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. At the sanctuary, you register and receive a safety briefing from an expert ranger.
Proceed for shoebill trekking at Lugogo swamp, home to the rare shoebill stork. This large, prehistoric-looking bird—standing about 1.2 meters tall and known for its distinctive whale-shaped bill—is a major attraction for bird enthusiasts, with a chance to see it up close during a guided walk or canoe trip.
Then proceed for a guided rhino tracking, where you walk to locate white rhinos using ranger knowledge. You’ll get close and observe them calmly while learning about their behavior and conservation it lasts about 2–3 hours.
After lunch at the visitor area, and enjoy an afternoon nature walk across the sanctuary’s savannah and woodland, spotting wildlife like zebras, hartebeest, oribis, waterbuck, eland, warthogs, and reptiles.
The day ends with a return drive back to Kampala.
