Day 1

After being welcomed and received by our guide driver at the airport or hotel in Entebbe or Kampala, You will embark on a transfer to Mbale, a home of the Mount Elgon national park to prepare for your hiking experience. The drive from Entebbe to Mbale takes 5-7 hours depending on the traffic.

Day 2

Wake up from your hotel near Bushiyi trail gate and have an early morning breakfast before checking out from your accommodation ready for the 3 days Mount Elgon hike to summit Wagagai peak 4,321m asl from Uganda.
Your driver guide will drive you upwards towards Bushiyi gate a distance of 3-5 Kms before proceeding on a boda boda ride to the starting point at Bushiyi gate depending on the weather.

Arrive, register and meet the porters, chef, ranger guides, the team going to make your adventure memorable and enjoyable. Bushiyi gate is at 1900m a.s.l. After briefing, trek for about 4 hours to the first camp at Shiloko 2600m for your lunch break and Coffee. After, Lunch, we shall pass through the forest steepest parts of this trail but once it’s completed, it gets easier and relaxed to the overnight camp Dube camp. The chef and the porters will make sure you will have enough fire to warm yourselves as the chef is preparing his favorite dinner recipe for you as the night retires.

Day 3

After Early morning breakfast, we shall start the hike from the camp through the heather zones, giant lobelia zones, breathtaking landscapes and endless mountain ranges stretching beyond the borders of Uganda and Kenya. The hike will take approximately 4 hours at 6kms walk to the summit 4,321m. At this point, you shall view several other peaks of Koitabos 4222m, Sudek 4302m, Mubiyi peak 4221m.

After the summit, you shall descend down back the camp for late lunch and later we descend down to the Shiloko camp for our overnight and closer to the Exit on the Day 3 of our trek. Descending down to the lower camp is steep and this will take more time to arrive to the lower camp, on arrival you will enter in tents and change to whom clothes as the porters arranges the camp fires for you and dinner served and overnight.

After Early Morning Breakfast, we shall pack and walk down to the exit at Bushiyi gate which will take about 3-4 hours depending on the trail’s conditions and which camp you spend the night.
On arrival, you will be awarded with the certificates for accomplishing the 3 days Mount Elgon summit.

You will be picked by your driver guide for transfer to Sipi falls or prepare to get on Motor cycle taking you back to your safari car depending on the weather conditions
Have an evening nature walk to Sipi falls and abseil down the 100m waterfall before returning to your lodge for an overnight.

Have breakfast by 6am and thereafter proceed to the wilderness in search of the early morning raisers, the morning game drive starts at about 6:30am, look out for animals such as; the giraffes, lions, hyenas, water bucks, elephants, buffalos, antelopes- many species of birds such as; egrets, ibis, shoebill stock, marabou stock, king fisher, egrets to mention but a few.
As you have your game drive, you may relax and have a picnic on the river bank as you listen to the groans of the Hippos.

After the game drive, you will transfer to the lodge and enjoy your lunch either way you may take packed lunch with as you prepare to have an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River.
This cruise is spectacular as it allows you to get up close to the aquatic animals such as; the hippos, crocodiles, water bucks, buffalos, elephants and bird life. Return and proceed to the top of water falls for the strongest world water falls experience.

The 7 Days Rwenzori hiking Via the Central Circuit Trail starts at the Rwenzori Mountains National park Mihunga gate at about 1.615m Asl. Your Bujuku Ecotours driver guide will drive you to Mihunga for the trip briefing and organising your equipment. The trail begins by passing through farmland to the park boundary beyond which it follows a thick forest along the Mubuku River, crossing its Mahoma River tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach Nyabitaba hut. During this part of the trip you may hear chimpanzee and see black and white colobus, blue monkey and the brilliantly coloured Rwenzori turraco.
Hike duration: 6 -7 hours. Elevation height: 1,036m Distance: 7km.

From Nyabitaba follow the trail that drops down through the forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, just below the confluence of the Mubuku and Bujuku rivers. Passing through the bamboo forest, traverse through a long and exhausting stretch of slippery moss-covered rock.

From the Nyamuleju rock shelter, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the zone of the giant heather, lobelia and groundsel. Finally reach John Matte Hut after passing through the tiring bog, for dinner and overnight at the hut.
Hike duration: 7 – 8 hours. Elevation height: 854m Distance: 11km.

From John Matte Hut the trail drops down to cross the Bujuku River and enters Lower Bigo Bog, the home of giant lobelias. Jumping from tussock to tussock, the bog is finally crossed but rarely without the feet sampling some of the freezing ooze below. The upper Bigo bog gives way to Bujuku Lake, with views of Mt Baker to the South and Mt Stanley to the West.
Continue to the Omukendeghe shelter for a rest before continuing through the Bujuku valley bog left of Lake Bujuku.
Climb westwards towards Elena hut crossing the route to Kitandara camp from Bujuku camp.
Here you will enter the Afro alpine zone climbing through rocky sections before reaching the cold Elena camp at 4,505m asl for an overnight.
Duration: 6-7 hours 8.2 km Elevation gain: 1,091M.

Early morning, attempt climbing the highest peak, Margherita of Mount Stanley. To reach the summit of Margherita, the climb takes about 4 -5 hours depending on the weather conditions and the pace of climbing this mountain covering a distance of 2.5km to 3.5km.

This tough walk takes you over three glaciers, slippery rock, ice and very exposed areas which are open on many sides. Climbing on to the glaciers, cross the Stanley Plateau and proceed with the ascent. Acclimatized to fog, altitude sickness and coolly weather, scramble up to the summit of Margherita the highest peak of the Rwenzori mountains. The Descend from Margherita peak back to Elena Hut will take you about 2-3hours. Distance: 3km

After your lunch at Elena hut, descend to the Scott-Elliot pass (4372m asl.), where there are spectacular views of Bujuku Lake and Mount Speke.
Continue your descend to the Bujuku valley and proceed down to John Matte camp for an overnight.
Descend duration: 3 – 4 hours. Distance: 2.7km.
