Windhoek to Etosha National Park – 433km (269miles) - 4H25min

You can start your journey between 08:00 and 08:30, as your drive takes you to the northern part of Namibia. A relatively long drive this morning to the Etosha National Park will see you passing through farmland and possible short stops in towns of Okahandja, Otjiwarongo and Outjo along the way; as you should aim to arrive in the Etosha National Park shortly after noon.

This will give you time to have the option to depart for your first afternoon game drive in the Etosha National Park with the NWR Game/Safari viewing vehicle, or in your own vehicle. Self-driving in Etosha is easy to do and it’s a wonderful experience. Most roads are relatively straightforward and easy to drive on, but some can become rutted, making journeys a bit slower (and a lot bouncier). When navigating your way through this park, make sure that you adhere to the rules and regulations of the area at all times, and also maintain a prescribed.

Day 2

Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park

Today is another opportunity to familiarize yourself with the routes around the southwestern and eastern end of the Etosha National park, as you can make your way from the Okaukuejo area all the way to the area around Halali and back with your vehicle.

Game viewing is not about flying along and potentially missing incredible things. Take your time and travel at something closer to 40km/h (25mph), and you will find it much easier to spot game. You can visit the various waterholes to see the animals and vegetation of this great park, and more of what it has in store for you as you should set off as early as you can on your game drive.

You are welcome to utilize the bar and pool facilities in Halali before you continue your afternoon game drive. You should return back to your accommodation, the Okaukuejo Camp before sunset.
