Arusha to tarangire

Your safari begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park. Famous for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, Tarangire provides an excellent introduction to the African savannah. Morning and afternoon game drives take you along the Tarangire River, where you can expect to see large numbers of elephants, impalas, zebras, wildebeest, and waterbucks. The park is also renowned for its birdlife, with over 500 species recorded. Lions and leopards are frequently spotted resting in the trees or near the river. In the evening, you transfer to your lodge near the park or continue toward the Serengeti region, enjoying the changing landscape from acacia woodlands to open plains.

Upon arrival in the central Serengeti (Seronera area), you embark on game drives across the endless grasslands. This region is excellent for big cats — lions, cheetahs, and leopards are commonly seen. Depending on the season, you may witness parts of the great migration with thousands of wildebeest and zebras. Afternoon drives focus on the kopjes (rocky outcrops) where predators often rest. You spend the night in a lodge at Serengeti, allowing for an early start the next day.

During a full-day game drive, you have excellent chances of seeing the Big Five, including black rhinos, which are more reliably spotted here than anywhere else in Tanzania. The crater also hosts large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and buffalo, along with hyenas and golden jackals.
