Day 1

Transfer & Canopy Walk

Transfer & Canopy Walk

Your adventure begins early in the morning as your guide picks you up from your hotel in Kigali for the scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park. Enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda's rolling green hills and vibrant tea plantations en route. After checking into your lodge and enjoying a warm lunch, you will transfer to the Uwinka Visitor Center. Here, you will join an expert ranger for a guided hike along the lush Igishigishigi Trail. This short, exciting hike leads to the famous canopy walkway, suspended 70 meters above the dense forest floor. Walking across this 160-meter-long bridge provides spectacular, bird's-eye views of the ancient rainforest canopy, surrounding mountains, and various bird species. Afterward, you will descend and head back to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Chimpanzee Tracking & Departure

Chimpanzee Tracking & Departure

Wake up before dawn for a quick cup of coffee or tea, then head to the park headquarters at dawn for a vital briefing on chimpanzee tracking rules. Accompanied by experienced local trackers and armed guides, you will venture deep into the emerald-green forest or the nearby Cyamudongo patch. You will track the chimps by following their loud vocalizations and identifying fresh feeding trails on the forest floor. Once your group locates the habituated chimpanzee troop, you will spend exactly one exhilarating hour watching them feed, play, and interact. After this profound encounter, you will hike back to the starting point, reunite with your driver, and begin the scenic drive back to Kigali.
