Day 2

After an early breakfast, depart Kigali and drive to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah national park and a haven for diverse wildlife. Upon arrival, begin an exciting game drive across the park’s scenic landscapes of savannah plains, woodlands, and wetlands. Keep an eye out for some of Africa’s iconic wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, lions, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.

After the game drive, enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon boat safari on Lake Ihema. The boat trip offers a unique opportunity to view hippos, crocodiles, and water birds up close while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Rwanda’s largest protected wetland system. After breakfast, depart Akagera National Park and begin your scenic journey to Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and a haven of biodiversity. Enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, tea plantations, and beautiful countryside landscapes along the way.

Upon arrival in Nyungwe, experience the famous Canopy Walk, an exhilarating adventure taking you high above the forest floor on a suspended bridge. After an early breakfast, head into Nyungwe Forest National Park for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. The forest is also home to other primates, including colobus monkeys, as well as a wide variety of bird species and unique flora.
