Fly from Addis Ababa to Gondar, then drive to Michibiny (approximately 2.5 hours).
From Gondar, we continue to the trekking start point at Michibiny (around 3,200 m). We will also arrange trekking permits at the Simien Mountains National Park Headquarters with a brief stop.
We begin the trek with an easy 2 to 3 hour hike to Sankaber (about 3,250 m), an excellent way to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 2
Sankaber to Gich (Jinbar Falls Viewpoint)

Hike from Sankaber to Gich (around 3,600 m).
Today’s trek covers approximately 12 km and takes around 5 to 6 hours.
The route passes through highland grasslands, heather forests, and cultivated fields, following a spectacular escarpment with dramatic views. Along the way, you may observe friendly Gelada baboons foraging in large groups.
A highlight of the day is the Jinbar Falls viewpoint, reached after a short scramble over rocks. This waterfall drops hundreds of meters down the escarpment into the abyss.
At the end of the trek, we reach the village of Gich, where local people prepare a well deserved coffee ceremony.

Day 3
Gich to Chennek (Imet Gogo Detour)

Hike from Gich to Chennek (around 3,620 m).
This is a long but exceptionally spectacular stage of the trek with stunning views throughout the day.
Today we hike 7 to 8 hours to cover approximately 12 km, including a short detour to Imet Gogo (about 3,925 m). This summit offers some of the most exciting panoramic views. Giant lobelia is abundant on the Gich plateau. With luck, you may see the Lammergeyer (bearded vulture) soaring overhead, and the endemic Thick billed Raven.
On the way to Chennek, you will pass other major peaks including Inataye (up to about 4,070 m) and a deep valley. Chennek is one of the best places to spot the endemic and endangered Walia Ibex, which often walk into the camp area.

Day 4
Chennek to Ras Bwahit (Bwahit Pass) to Gondar to Addis Ababa

Today takes us to Bwahit Pass (about 4,200 m). If you have the energy, you can continue to Ras Bwahit, the second highest peak of Ethiopia after Ras Dashen.
Total hiking distance is approximately 10 km, taking about 5 to 6 hours. Along the route, there is a great chance to spot Walia Ibex, and with luck you may also see the rare Ethiopian Wolf.
In the late afternoon, we drive back to Gondar (around 4 hours), and then take an evening flight back to Addis Ababa.

Day 5
Addis Ababa to Robe to Dinsho to Habera Waterfall to Bale Mountains National Park

In the morning, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight from Addis Ababa to Robe.
Upon arrival, meet your guide and drive to Bale Mountains National Park Headquarters at Dinsho, the gateway to one of Ethiopia’s most spectacular wildlife destinations. Enjoy a guided nature walk through juniper and Hagenia woodlands while searching for endemic wildlife including Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s Bushbuck, Bohor Reedbuck, warthogs, and bird species such as the Wattled Ibis.
After lunch, continue driving deeper into the park toward Afro alpine landscapes and begin a scenic trek to Habera Waterfall through open moorlands and high altitude scenery. Along the trail, there is a strong chance to spot the Ethiopian Wolf and the Giant Mole Rat.
Overnight: Camping near Habera Waterfall or return to Robe for a hotel stay, depending on the selected program option.

Day 6

After breakfast, explore Bale Mountains National Park with two program options depending on accommodation choice.
Option A (Camping program):
Start a scenic trek from Habera to Adelay across the Web Valley, one of the park’s best wildlife viewing areas. Walk through Afro alpine moorlands and Giant Lobelia fields while searching for the Ethiopian Wolf, Giant Mole Rat, and birds of prey. Overnight camping at Adelay campsite in a dramatic mountain setting.
Option B (Hotel comfort option):
Drive to the Sanetti Plateau, one of Africa’s highest roads, for Ethiopian Wolf tracking and panoramic mountain views. Continue descending into Harenna Forest to explore the Erica belt and bamboo forest habitat, where the endemic Bale Monkey and forest birds may be spotted before returning to Bale Robe.
Overnight: Adelay Campsite or hotel in Bale Robe

After breakfast, the final day in Bale Mountains National Park continues based on the selected program option.
Option A (Camping program):
Hike from Adelay back to Dinsho through Hagenia woodlands, juniper forests, and open grasslands, with opportunities to spot Mountain Nyala, Menelik’s Bushbuck, Olive Baboons, Bohor Reedbuck, and endemic bird species.
Upon arrival in Dinsho, transfer to Robe Airport for the domestic flight back to Addis Ababa.
