Jambo, and welcome to your Tanzanian calving season safari adventure!
Your journey begins as you leave Arusha and head into Tarangire National Park, a beautiful wilderness known for its ancient baobab trees, open grasslands, and large elephant herds. As you explore the park and follow the Tarangire River, keep watch for elephants gathering near the water, along with giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a variety of antelope. Lions may be seen resting beneath the trees or moving through the surrounding grasslands.
Pause during your game drive for a delicious bush lunch, surrounded by the peaceful sights and sounds of the African wilderness. After lunch, continue exploring Tarangire and its diverse landscapes before leaving the park in the late afternoon.
Drive into the cooler highlands of Karatu and arrive at Marera Valley Lodge, where a freshly prepared dinner and a comfortable evening await you. Rest well before continuing deeper into Tanzania’s wildlife country tomorrow.

Day 2
Karatu to Southern Serengeti (Ndutu)
Karatu to Southern Serengeti (Ndutu)
After breakfast, journey across the scenic highlands towards the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu, where the short-grass plains come alive during the calving season. Large herds of wildebeest gather across the fertile plains, joined by zebras and gazelles. The abundance of young animals attracts predators, offering excellent opportunities to observe lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and other wildlife in their natural environment.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the open savanna, surrounded by wide horizons and the peaceful rhythm of the plains. After lunch, continue your game drive through Ndutu, following the movement of the herds and exploring areas where wildlife activity is unfolding.
As the afternoon comes to an end, make your way to Sero Tented Camp for a relaxing evening. Settle into your tent, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, and unwind beneath the quiet skies of the Southern Serengeti.

Day 3
Southern Serengeti (Ndutu) to Karatu

Wake early to the sounds of the African wilderness and set out for a morning game drive across the fertile plains of Ndutu. During the calving season, large wildebeest herds spread across the short-grass plains, with newborn calves and their mothers providing a remarkable sight. The abundance of young animals also attracts predators, offering opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, and hyenas as they move through the area.
After an exciting morning of wildlife viewing, enjoy a bush lunch in the open savanna before continuing your journey towards the highlands of Karatu. Take in the changing landscapes as you leave the plains of Ndutu behind and make your way towards your lodge.
Arrive at Marera Valley Lodge in the late afternoon and take time to relax after a full day in the wilderness. Enjoy a hot, freshly prepared dinner and a peaceful evening around the fire.

Day 4

Begin your final safari day with an early descent into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera renowned for its exceptional concentration of wildlife. The crater floor offers excellent opportunities to encounter large herds of zebra and wildebeest, buffalo, elephants, hippos, and lions. With patience and luck, you may also spot the endangered black rhino moving through the open grasslands.
Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch within the caldera, close to one of the crater’s hippo pools. Take in the remarkable surroundings before continuing your game drive and beginning the ascent towards the crater rim.
After leaving Ngorongoro, continue your journey towards Arusha. We will drop you at your preferred location, whether your hotel or the airport for your onward flight.
