The Serengeti contains the largest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, on a scale without parallel anywhere in the world.

Tarangire National Park

Spend a full day in the park with morning and afternoon game-viewing drives at 06:30 and 16:00 respectively. One of the key attractions that has made Tarangire National Park internationally popular is its large elephant population, which is considered the highest in Tanzania.

As the Dry season from June to October progresses and terrain becomes even drier, you will see numerous large elephant herds of about 300 individuals per herd digging the dry riverbed of Tarangire River in search for underground streams of water to quench their thirst.

The oldest known elephant to give birth to twins is found in Tarangire. Another unique feature commonly seen is the baobab tree, also known as the "Tree of Life". It is gigantic in nature and can store 300 - 1000 liters of water in its trunk. They have a long lifespan and can survive up to 60 years.
