SGR Journey to Morogoro & Afternoon Mikumi Game Drive

Your safari adventure begins with a comfortable transfer from your hotel/airport to the SGR railway station in Dar es Salaam. Enjoy a modern and scenic train journey through the Tanzanian countryside to Morogoro, where your professional safari guide will meet you upon arrival. From Morogoro, continue by road to Mikumi National Park and, after completing the park formalities, begin your first game drive.

Explore Mikumi’s beautiful landscapes while searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, buffaloes, and other wildlife. With favorable timing and animal activity, you may also encounter predators such as lions.

Later in the afternoon, exit the park and proceed to your accommodation outside the park. Enjoy dinner, relax, and spend the night at your camp after an exciting day of travel and wildlife exploration.

Mikumi National Park Full Day game drive

After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive through Mikumi National Park, exploring some of the park’s most rewarding wildlife areas. Your experienced safari guide will take you across open savannahs, woodland, and riverine habitats in search of the park’s diverse wildlife. Keep watch for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, impalas, and other species, with possible sightings of lions and other predators.

At midday, enjoy a picnic lunch within the park, surrounded by Mikumi’s beautiful natural scenery. Continue with afternoon game viewing and photography before departing the park in the late afternoon and returning to your camp for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Mikumi National Park

Begin your third day with an early morning game drive through Mikumi National Park, taking advantage of the cooler temperatures when wildlife is particularly active. Explore the Mkata Floodplain and surrounding areas, watching for predators returning from their nocturnal hunts and large herds of herbivores gathering around water sources.

After an exciting morning of wildlife viewing, return to your camp for lunch and some time to relax. Spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying the camp facilities or simply taking in the peaceful surroundings. Later, you may choose an optional short sunset game drive before returning for dinner and an overnight stay.

Maasai Cultural Tour & SGR Return Journey

After breakfast at the camp, set out for an authentic Maasai cultural experience at a traditional boma near Mikumi. Spend time learning about the Maasai way of life, including their customs, traditions, traditional medicine, and community structure. Meet local villagers, visit their traditional homes, and experience their vibrant cultural performances, including traditional songs and jumping dances. This memorable encounter offers a genuine insight into the heritage and daily life of the Maasai community.
