Pick Up, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Afternoon Boat cruise

Your safari begins early in the morning with pick-up by a professional Wagatil Safaris driver-guide. After a short briefing, you will drive approximately 457 km from Kampala to Lake Bunyonyi in southwestern Uganda, a journey of about 8 hours.

On arrival, enjoy lunch and relax while admiring the beautiful lake and surrounding hills. In the afternoon, take a scenic boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi, exploring some of its 29 islands and spotting water birds such as grey crowned cranes, herons, egrets, and kingfishers.

Later, continue to the Ruhija sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check in at your lodge, have dinner, and spend the night preparing for the next day’s mountain gorilla trekking adventure.

Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Experience

After an early breakfast, collect your packed lunch and travel with your Wagatil Safaris guide to the Ruhija sector headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A ranger guide will brief you on the rules and safety guidelines before you begin your gorilla trek.

Hike through the dense forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek may take several hours depending on the gorillas’ location, so reasonable physical fitness is recommended. Porters and walking sticks can also be helpful.

Once the gorillas are located, spend a memorable hour observing and photographing them as they feed, play, care for their young, and interact in their natural habitat. Afterwards, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Transfer Back to Kampala via the Equator

After breakfast, begin your return journey with your Wagatil Safaris driver guide toward Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, stop at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe, where you can take memorable photographs while standing across the northern and southern hemispheres.

You may also watch the popular equator water demonstration and browse local craft shops for souvenirs. Afterwards, continue your journey with lunch served en route while enjoying views of Uganda’s countryside.
