Windhoek - Your Self-Drive Adventure Begins

Your self-drive adventure begins on arrival at Windhoek Airport or at your Windhoek accommodation, where you will be warmly welcomed with a meet and greet, followed by your 4x4 vehicle handover and briefing. A comprehensive vehicle handover and briefing will ensure you are comfortable with the vehicle and familiar with the route, driving conditions and practicalities of travelling independently in Namibia.

Leaving Windhoek behind, the scenery gradually changes as you travel through open landscapes, rugged mountains and vast desert plains. The journey to the Namib Desert is an experience in itself, with endless horizons and ever-changing scenery along the way.

Arrive at Desert Homestead, beautifully situated amidst the dramatic landscapes of the Namib. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as the desert light begins to soften towards evening.

You may choose to enjoy this experience as a self-drive, following the scenic route through the spectacular dune landscape at your own pace, or opt for a Sossusvlei excursion with Desert Homestead, where an experienced guide takes you into this extraordinary desert environment.

Along the way, discover some of the Namib’s most iconic sights, including the striking Dune 45, the surreal white clay pan and ancient camel thorn trees of Deadvlei, and the dramatic Sesriem Canyon. Each offers a different perspective of this remarkable desert landscape.

After a memorable day among the dunes, return to Desert Homestead to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as the desert colours change with the setting sun.

Sossusvlei to Windhoek - Journeys End

After breakfast, begin your journey back towards Windhoek, enjoying one final drive through Namibia’s beautiful landscapes.

Depending on your onward travel arrangements, we will assist with the return of your vehicle at Hosea Kutako International Airport or at your Windhoek guesthouse. Should you need any assistance with logistics along the way, we are just one call away. We can also assist with arranging activities, reservations or any additional services you may require during your journey.

If time allows, you may have the opportunity to enjoy a final stop or some time in Windhoek before your self-drive adventure comes to an end.
