Depart Nairobi in the morning and travel north toward Samburu, enjoying changing landscapes as you leave the capital and journey into Kenya’s rugged northern region. Upon arrival, enter Samburu National Reserve and enjoy a game drive as you make your way toward your lodge or camp.

Check in and enjoy lunch before relaxing briefly. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive through Samburu’s dramatic scenery of dry riverbeds, rocky hills, acacia woodland, and open plains. Search for Samburu’s famous Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Somali ostrich, and Beisa oryx — as well as elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and other wildlife. Enjoy breakfast before setting out for a full day of wildlife exploration in Samburu National Reserve. Begin with an early morning game drive when wildlife is most active, exploring the reserve’s diverse habitats along the Ewaso Ng’iro River and surrounding wilderness.
