Tarangire national park

Tarangire national park

Your Rehoboth Safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast. This morning, you will drive to Tarangire National Park, which is approximately a two-and-a-half-hour journey on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. Known for its large elephant herds, the park offers great opportunities to observe these magnificent animals congregating by the river.

Additionally, you may encounter giraffe, bushbuck, and hartebeest, with various predators such as lions and leopards often in the vicinity. Tarangire is also home to the highest diversity of bird species anywhere on the planet. You will find ancient baobab trees throughout the park, some of which are believed to be over a thousand years old. A picnic lunch will be served at a designated site inside the park. After your game drive, you will transit to your accommodation in mto wa mbu.

After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous National park in the World, the Serengeti. You will drive up the crater highlands, making a quick stop at the rim for an out of this world view of Ngorongoro Crater. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in Swahili, 'endless plains'. The park has 6,900 sq. miles and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes including the abundant impalas and Thomson's gazelles. As for Big Cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous river crossings having been filmed in this park.

Serengeti - karatu

Serengeti - karatu

The Serengeti is truly spectacular. It is famous for its vast open grasslands, which offer excellent wildlife sightings. The Serengeti's climate and vegetation have remained largely untouched for millions of years. Whilst it boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for the annual great migration. Vast numbers of wildebeest, accompanied by large numbers of zebras and antelopes, move in an annual pattern, constantly seeking fresh grazing. The migration can be found during any given month; you just need to know where to look! The question should really be about the "best places'"to see the animals during a certain time of year.

In addition to the iconic landscapes, you will have a good chance of encountering predators, and you may see lions, cheetahs and leopards. It is a truly life-changing experience.

In the afternoon, you will start your journey back to Karatu, hopefully enjoying more wonders on the way!

This UNESCO World Heritage Site features golden savannahs, shimmering lakes, lush swamps, and acacia woodlands. Formed over 2 million years ago after a massive volcanic eruption, it is the world’s largest unbroken caldera.

Descending into the crater is an adventure, offering unparalleled views at every turn. On the crater floor, you’ll find herds of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species, from flamingos to crowned cranes. It’s also one of the few places to spot the endangered black rhino grazing in the grasslands.

Lake manyara national park

Lake manyara national park

This morning, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park—your final destination on this epic safari! Lake Manyara National Park is a small but diverse park 120km west of Arusha. Everything you will see here is on a different scale. It is both compact (one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of wading birds (including flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest and look out for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park. After your game drive, we will drop you off at a place you choose, e.g., Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope you have enjoyed your adventure with Rehoboth safaris!
