Zanzibar – Ndutu Region

Zanzibar – Ndutu Region

Your safari begins with a transfer from your hotel in Zanzibar to the airport for your scheduled flight to northern Tanzania. Upon arrival, meet your professional safari guide and continue toward the Ndutu region, with the exact transfer arrangements depending on your arrival airport and flight schedule.

Ndutu forms part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem and is particularly renowned for its seasonal concentrations of wildebeest and zebras. During the journey and afternoon game drive, explore the open plains and woodland areas in search of wildlife. Depending on the season, you may encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, and hyenas.

Enjoy a picnic lunch during your safari before continuing your wildlife exploration. Later in the afternoon, proceed to your luxury tented camp or lodge in Ndutu, where you can relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for another exciting day in the wilderness.

Full-Day Game Drive in Ndutu

After breakfast, depart for a full day of wildlife exploration in the Ndutu region. Your experienced guide will help you explore the best areas for wildlife viewing, depending on the season, recent animal movements, and road conditions.

During the calving season, usually from December to March, the Ndutu plains become a major gathering area for migrating wildebeest. Thousands of calves are born during this period, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Outside the calving season, the region can still offer rewarding wildlife encounters, although the concentration and location of the herds vary throughout the year.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and continue your game drive across the plains, around seasonal lakes, and through suitable woodland habitats. Your guide will share insights into animal behaviour, predator-prey relationships, and the ecological importance of the Serengeti ecosystem.
