Day 1

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast you will depart for Tarangire, Tanzania's third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Tarangire is known for its majestic baobab trees, which dwarf the the animals that feed beneath them. You will find many animals concentrated along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. Overall there is a great diversity of wildlife here, including lions, leopards, cheetahs and up to six thousand elephants.

Day 2

After breakfast you will enjoy a game drive en route to Serengeti National Park with a lunch box in hand. Along the way you will pass the rim of the “natural bowl of wildlife”, otherwise known as the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival you will go on afternoon and evening game drives in search of large predators and gentle herbivores.

Day 3

During your two days in the Serengeti your driver-guide will take you out on morning, afternoon, and evening game drives in search of animals taking part in the great migration. You can expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds. After your morning game drive you will discuss with your driver whether or not you would like to eat a boxed lunch (so that you will have more time in the park) or return to the lodge for a hot meal.

Day 4

Today you will go on an early morning game drive with a breakfast box in hand. This will allow you to eat in the park at a picnic site and watch for animals that are nocturnal, such as lions, hyenas, and cheetahs, that you would normally have to search for at night. Afterwards you will return to the lodge for an early hot lunch and then pack your bags in preparation for your journey to the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 5

After breakfast you will descend into the Ngorongodo Crater for a wonderful game drive and picnic lunch. The crater is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since the crater walls are 2000 ft. high, very few animals migrate in and out. As a result, the crater has the highest wild animal density of any location on the planet. Species found here include lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes and many birds. You can expect to see the “big five” in one day! After your game drive you will drive to Karatu for your overnight stay.

After breakfast you will drive to Mto wa Mbu to experience the local life of the Maasai people for two hours. From here you will drive to the Arusha airport to catch your flight to Zanzibar. You will meet our representative there, who will help transfer to you to the Mnaran Beach Resort.

Your program for today starts with a morning walk on our historical Stone Town tour. This tour takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still. With visits to the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People's Palace) and the Arab Fort (among others), this tour gives you a fascinating look into the essence of Zanzibar. Along the way you will also see Zanzibar’s bustling market, winding alleyways, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals, countless antique mosques and a plethora of spices in the spice market.
