Early in the morning, we drive for about 3 hours to the Marangu Gate of Kilimanjaro National Park (1,840 m). As soon as the registration is done and the team is prepared, you'll start trekking the Mountain Kilimanjaro; you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the black and white colobus monkeys foraging in the lush vegetation. After about 4 hours of an easy hike through the magnificent rainforest you'll be at the beautifully situated Mandara Hut. After a well-deserved break, our guide will take you to the Maundi crater, where we can enjoy a magnificent view of the Kenyan interior. Overnight in Mandara Hut.

Horombo Huts Stop From Mandara Huts
The day begins with an early breakfast and shortly after leaving the Mandara Hut, the hike will be through a beautiful moor landscape through the hills with special flora until for about 6 hours. The Horombo Hut comes into view at an altitude of about 3,700 m. From the huts, you'll have a fantastic view of the Mawenzi, the second-highest peak in the Kilimanjaro massif, of the Kibo peak, and the wide plains below. Kilimanjaro consists of three extinct conical volcanoes, Kibo (5,895 m), Mawenzi (5,148 m), and Shira (3,962 m). Overnight in Horombo Hut.

Horombo Huts to Zebra Rock for Acclimatization
The purpose of an acclimatization day is to get our bodies used to high altitudes. We highly recommend it as it will assist with acclimatization. After a relaxed breakfast, you'll make a 2 to 4-hour hike to the 3,980 m high zebra rocks. The distinctive black and white stripes give the rock formation its name. A warm lunch awaits us on our return to the Horombo Huts.
In the afternoon have a rest and recharge your battery for the next day’s hike. Overnight in Horombo Huts.
Kibo Huts Stop
On the fourth day you'll have a long and demanding Climb though there are no steep climbs. But definitely, You'll clearly feel the height and the thinning air. Have the Mawenzi and Kibo summits in view almost the whole long way. Destination is the Kibo Hut and should be reached in about 5 to 6 hours. After lunch, have some rest and later dinner and overnight; The ascent to the summit starts at midnight and because the ascent to the summit is a little longer from this route, it is very important that you eat and drink enough for the long day to the summit. Remember to have at least 3 liters of warm drinking water prepared by the crew.

Kibo Huts to Uhuru Summit then back to Horombo Huts
Today is the “big day” of the summit stage. After a hot tea and light breakfast, start at midnight when the lava ash is still frozen and easy to walk. You'll start the ascent to the summit with headlamps: at sunrise, reach Gilman’s Point (5715 m) on the crater rim, expect strong winds on the ascent. After about an hour you'll be at Stella Point (5756 m). Another 1 to 2 hours ascent along the crater ridge leads you to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Here you'll see Kilimanjaro in all its glory and enjoy the 360 ° view over the landscape at sunrise, you are now on the “roof of Africa”. After lunchtime, descend down to the Horombo Huts (3,700 m).

• Trekking time: 6-8 hours to the summit and then 5-8 hours to Horombo Hut

Horombo Huts down to Marangu Gate
Following a well-deserved breakfast, your staff will have a big celebration full of dancing and singing. It is here on the mountain that you will present your tips to the guide, assistant guides, chef(s), and porters. After celebrating, you will descend for 6 hours back to Marangu Gate (1980m). The National Park requires all hikers to sign their names to receive certificates of completion. Hikers who reached Gillman’s Point (5681m) receive green certificates and hikers who reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates.
After everything drive back to Moshi with a drop off at the Hotel or Airport!
