Day 1
Aberdares National Park
Aberdares National Park
You will depart from Nairobi for the Aberdares National Park (3.5 hours), set in a mountain range with great views of Mount Kenya. There are many waterfalls and mist-covered, lichen-hung trees and you may see elephant, rhino and leopard here as well as long-haired Colobus monkey and the mountain bongo if you are lucky.
You will arrive at the Aberdares Country Club for lunch after which you will be transferred to The Ark Lodge - a game-viewing lodge, where you will stay for a night. The Ark Lodge offers a unique game-viewing experience from the comfort of the lodge, with four viewing decks and a hide. Before dinner, the host gives an interactive talk about the local fauna and animals and dinner is served from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. You then continue to watch the wildlife. If you want, the resident ranger stays on watch during the night and will buzz your room if an interesting animal comes to the water hole!

Lake Nakuru
During the morning, cross the tip of the Aberdare Mountains and stop briefly to admire Thompson’s Falls. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive in the park. This park is also a birdwatcher's paradise. The lake is world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth - myriads of fuchsia-pink flamingos whose numbers are legion, often more than a million (maybe two). They feed on abundant algae, which thrives in the warm waters. Scientists reckon that the flamingo population at Nakuru consumes about 250,000 kilos of algae per hectare of surface area per year. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.
