Day 1
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast, we depart to Tarangire for a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch. In this national park, herds of up to 300 elephants scrape the waterless river bed for alternative streams while nomadic wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and eland mass the decreased lagoons. The park holds migrants during the dry season and is a welcoming home to elephants. Dinner and overnight will be at Motto Cottages.

Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you will depart the lodge at 8:30 am and head to Lake Manyara National Park with a hot picnic lunch in hand. After a full-day game drive, you will make your way to the Marera View Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Stretching for 50km along the base of the rusty-gold 600m-high Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a scenic gem with a setting extolled by Ernest Hemingway as “the loveliest I had seen in Africa.” The compact game-viewing circuit through Lake Manyara offers a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian safari experience. From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where 100-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk cacophonously in the high canopy.

Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will make your way to Serengeti National Park for a full-day game drive and a picnic lunch. Here, a million wildebeest, each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfill their instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life. They participate in a frenzied 3-week bout of territorial conquests and mating. It is survival of the fittest as they plunge in 40km (25mi) long columns through crocodile-infested waters on their annual exodus north. After a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily, the 1,000km (600mi) pilgrimage begins again.
