Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After a safe landing at the airport or breakfast at your accommodation in Arusha, your driver will pick you up. You will drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive with your packed picnic lunch. The park is located slightly off the main safari route.

Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Northern Tanzania. The park has some of the highest population densities of elephants as compared to anywhere in Tanzania. Its sparse vegetation, strewn with baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and distinctive location to visit. Venture into the park for a matter of hours, seeing parts of Tarangire that are virtually untouched.

After extensive game viewing, you will drive to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay, awaiting your epic adventure to proceed on the following day.

Day 2-3

Drive to the Northern Serengeti "Mara River Crossing Experience"

Drive to the Northern Serengeti "Mara River Crossing Experience"

Enjoy breakfast at Farm of Dreams Lodge and drive toward the Northern Serengeti. Game viewing is superb year-round in the Serengeti. The park is home to the Big Five (although rhinos are rarely seen), and is particularly renowned for its predators – leopard, cheetah, lion and hyena – which are regularly spotted.

The Serengeti also plays host to the phenomenal great migration which sees millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle traversing the open plains of the park in search of fresh grass from seasonal rains. They move northwards of the Serengeti (Kogatende) into the neighboring Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, and then return south to the Serengeti again. The dramatic scenes of huge herds on the move, crossing rivers and vast plains, and pursued by predators looking for their next kill, are the stuff nature documentaries are made of. Experiencing the great migration is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event that most safari travelers have at the top of their bucket lists.

Day 4

Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti "Seronera"

Northern Serengeti to Central Serengeti "Seronera"

Have breakfast at your accommodation and then drive to Central Serengeti while game viewing en route. Central Serengeti, lying at the heart of this spectacular national park, is the most popular region in the reserve for its abundant wildlife, large numbers of big cats and quintessential Serengeti landscapes of acacia-studded savannah. Resident wildlife makes this part of the Serengeti a fantastic year-round destination. The Seronera area is rich in lion, leopard and cheetah, and people often spot all three species in one day of game drives. Look for leopard around the Seronera River, which is home to one of Africa’s densest populations of big cats, while lions can often be seen on the kopjes (rocky outcrops).

After an enjoyable afternoon game drive, you will be driving to your camp for dinner and overnight in the Central Serengeti at Into Wild Africa Tented Camp and proceed with your adventure on the following day.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your accommodation in the Serengeti. With your packed picnic boxes, you will be driving straight to the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive inside the crater.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera in the world. It is a scenic showstopper that extends across an astonishing 260 square kilometres. The crater is hemmed in on all sides by sheer craggy walls that rise up to 600m above the floor. The view from the lushly-forested rim is utterly stupendous and would justify a visit to Ngorongoro in its own right. This spectacular crater also stands as one of Africa’s most alluring safari destinations, supporting solid populations of all of the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, black rhino and buffalo). It is also home to a host of other iconic large mammals in a lush and scenic landscape that frequently draws comparisons to the metaphorical “Garden of Eden”.

After the tour, ascend the crater and return to Arusha.
