Arusha to Tarangire National Park
This morning you will travel to Tarangire National Park, a drive of approximately 3 hours. Tarangire is a sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, and up to 6,000 elephants. Enjoy your afternoon game drive before returning for your overnight stay at Eileen's Trees Inn.
Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After an early wake-up and breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and driven toward the Serengeti National Park via the beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa - the Serengeti National Park - with its endless plains rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. It features the Seronera River which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
In the evening, you will be transferred to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
The early morning is a good time to watch wildlife so you will be up early to join a game drive. You will return to the camp for brunch before heading out for another game drive in the park. In the Seronera region, you will often see wildebeests and zebras in close proximity to lions and other predators such as leopards and cheetahs. After a picnic lunch, you will continue your journey toward the Ngorongoro Crater. Once you have reached the crater rim, you will enjoy fantastic views of this 600 m-deep collapsed volcano.
You will stay at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge situated on the crater edge. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided.
Crater to Karatu
After breakfast, we descend 600m into this magnificent crater for a half-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely-crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most famous and interesting of Tanzania’s national parks because here you can find the greatest number of different animal species including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephant.
Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is the dense population of predators which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopards. After lunch, we will start ascending from the crater and return to Karatu at Eileen's Trees Inn.
Karatu to Lake Manyara to Arusha
Leave the lodge after breakfast and head out through the Maasai lands to Lake Manyara National Park for game drives in this very diverse park. The main attractions here are the tree-climbing lions and flamingos. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and continue to explore the different areas of the park until midafternoon when you leave the park and head back to Arusha.
