Arusha to Tarangire National Park
We leave Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for a morning game drive. The park runs along the Tarangire River, surrounded by low-lying hills around the valley floor. The natural vegetation consists mainly of acacia woodland and giant African baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. The river and swamps are a magnet for wild animals during Tanzania's dry season. Tarangire National Park is famous for its large resident elephant herds and is also home to three rare species of animals—greater kudu, the fringed-eared onyx, and a couple of ashy starlings. We will stop for lunch at one of the picnic areas in the park before continuing our afternoon game drive. We will return to the lodge late in the afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay.

Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, our route will take us through the lovely Karatu high-lying farmland and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area as we head towards Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti National Park's limitless plains spread into the distance, as far as the eye can see, our next stop after leaving the highlands. Now, you are in the heart of untamed Africa! The Seronera area, one of the park's most significant wildlife habitats, is in the middle of the park, our next destination. As a result of the Seronera River's importance as a water source for this region, it welcomes wildlife from almost all of the animal species in Serengeti. We will reach Serengeti National Park in time for lunch and do a game drive in the late afternoon. Dinner and our overnight stay are at Matawi Tented Camp.

Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
We wake up early for a morning game drive (when the animals are most active) and witness a spectacular African sunrise. After the game drive, we return to the lodge for a hot lunch before we proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, to some, the 8th wonder of the natural world. The crater spreads 264km² and has 610m high walls. Because of the magnitude of different indigenous wildlife species, many refer to the crater as Noah's ark. Here in the crater, one of the few locations on the continent, you will come across black rhinos. Inside the crater is a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a significant concentration of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. It is also famous for the elephants roaming here, said to be the biggest in the world, displaying massive tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a wonderful place! We will stay at Rhino Lodge on the crater rim, where you will have a magnificent view of the crater.

Ngorongoro Crater
Today, we head to Ngorongoro Crater and descend 600m into the crater, where we will have a fantastic game drive. A picnic lunch will be served at one of the crater's picnic areas. Many consider Ngorongoro Crater one of the world's natural marvels you cannot miss when planning your Tanzanian safari. Its beauty is stunning regardless of whether you visit the area in the rainy or dry seasons. The crater is home to many animals, however, only a few leave the area. You may encounter herds of wildebeest, zebras, hippos, eland, elephants, topis, etc. In addition, chances are excellent to see the endangered black rhino in its native environment. The crater is also home to various predators, including cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, lions, and the elusive leopards, which can sometimes be challenging to observe. Finally, we will drive to Karatu in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner and our overnight stay at Farm of Dreams Lodge.

Karatu to Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha
You will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park 120km west of Arusha. Everything here is on a different scale—it is compact (one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). The park’s namesake is a shallow salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of wading birds (including flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and a final game drive before you bid farewell to your guide. From here, you will be dropped off at your chosen place (e.g., Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport).
We hope you have enjoyed your adventure with Kitau Tanzania Safaris!
