Day 2

Murchison Falls National Park

After your breakfast, you will drive towards the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is a special occasion to track the extremely endangered white rhino at Ziwa. You will not only witness the most successful rhino breeding project in the world but also contribute to their survival. From here, you will proceed to Masindi town where you will access Murchison Falls National Park via the Kichumbanyobo gate. You will take a scenic ride under the shades of green, cross the seasonal Sambiya River to the Nile River, and continue and cross by ferry to the North Bank. You will visit the top of the falls before heading to your hotel for relaxation this evening.

Day 3

Game Drive and Boat Ride in Murchison Falls National Park

You will join your driver/guide on an early morning game drive. You will look out for elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, bushbucks, and Jackson’s hartebeests among others. The birdlife is also rich with species like the Abyssinian ground hornbill, grey herons, African fish eagle, and saddle-billed storks among others.
You will return to the lodge for lunch. At 2:00 p.m., you will transfer down to the pier/dock on the Nile River. You will start your boat cruise heading to the ‘mouth’ of the waterfalls. En route, you are likely to see hippos in the water and the Nile crocodiles lining the riverbank. You will take pictures, sit on the rocks, and exploit every moment with the bottom of the Murchison Falls in your full view. At the top, you will bear witness to the great wonder of nature as the Mighty Nile funnels itself through a 7 – 8-meter gorge forming the hardest waterfall on earth.

Day 4

Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park

You will have breakfast at your own pace then hit the road from Murchison Falls towards Kibale National Park, also known as the primate capital of the world. But first, you will arrive in Fort Portal this afternoon for lunch. Then, you will embark on a tour of the crater lakes of the Tooro region. Toro sub-region is famed for its wide range of crater lakes. These scenic relics of the area’s volcanic past sit in forested craters that often support a diversity of birds and monkeys. The picturesque views are jaw-dropping too. Later, you will head to your ultra-luxury hotel for an overnight stay and dinner. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day in the primate capital of the world.

The verdant forest hosts the highest population of wild chimpanzees in East Africa, estimated at 1,200 individuals. As you pursue chimps here, you are also likely to encounter 12 other primate species and myriads of medicinal herbs.

Day 5

Chimp Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

Chimp Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

After breakfast, you will be taken to the starting point of chimpanzee trekking where you will meet with a ranger/guide to take you through the DOs and DON’Ts of chimpanzee trekking. Thereafter, the guide will usher you into the forest for 2-4 hours searching for chimpanzees, starting at the spot where they nested the previous night. Chimps make their nests in the canopy, occasionally coming down to the floor during the day to bond with each other. Kibale is a relatively flat terrain hence the trek is doable even for people with walking difficulties. Once through with the trek, you will return to your lodge for a lunch break. In the late afternoon, you will embark on a nature walk in the well-conserved community-owned Bigodi Wetland. Bigodi has a thriving population of bird species like the green-breasted pitta and great blue turaco.
At no point will you feel bored as you will be engaged in every part of the tour.

Day 6

After breakfast, you will head to the Kasese Airstrip to catch a flight to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for what will be the highlight of your safari: gorilla trekking the following day. Today, after you arrive in Bwindi there is an option to go for a cultural experience on the Batwa Trail or stay at your cozy and comfy resort to relax in preparation for tomorrow's hike.

The day you've been waiting for is finally here. It starts with a briefing session by ranger guides of the park after which you will enter the forest for a thrilling adventure. The walk off the beaten path offers accessibility to over 120 plant species that gorillas and other mammals in the park depend on for food and medicine. Gorilla tracking lasts between 2-8 hours depending on the random movements of the apes. On finding them, you will have an interrupted one hour with their different members. After the trekking, you will return to the starting point where you'll be given a certificate for your bragging rights that you accomplished this once-in-a-lifetime excursion. You will have lunch at your lodge and later transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

You will wake up early for a one-hour golden monkey tracking experience deep in the misty Volcanoes National Park. The golden monkeys may not be as popular among tourists as the gorillas are, but they're just as fascinating to watch. They, too, are endemic to this part of the world. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Kigali for your overnight stay. Depending on the time of your flight to Kenya tomorrow, you will either do the Kigali Genocide Memorial visit today or tomorrow before your flight.

Day 10

After a relaxed breakfast, you'll be picked up from your hotel and embark on a Nairobi City excursion offering you an opportunity to discover Nairobi’s beauty. You will get to experience two of the most unique animal sanctuaries in the world. Firstly, visit David Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage and learn about the orphaned baby elephants and the reintegration process of returning them to the wild. After this, you will visit the Giraffe Center for a face-to-face encounter with the endangered Rothschild giraffes. You will climb the feeding point and offer a giraffe a food pellet under the supervision of a trained staff member. Not only will (he or she) accept your offer; but you may also be rewarded with a kiss! After this intimate encounter with these habituated animals, you will head out of Nairobi to the magnificent Masai Mara for some 'wild' encounters.

Day 11

You will begin the day with a hot air balloon trip. You will float over the throngs of animals on the never-ending plains of Mara. You will pop champagne at the end of the balloon ride, and embark on a full-day game drive across the rich tree-studded grassland and rolling hills. At lunchtime, our guide will pick a scenic (and safe) spot where you will enjoy your lunch and hear animals howling, birds chirping and the mighty Mara River flowing across the savannah bringing life to the park. After watching more of the spectacle that never gets dull, you will transfer back to your lodge. There is an option to visit a Maasai boma (Maasai village tour) late in the afternoon for an extra $30 per person.
